The Bahubali Hills Viewpoint at Udaipur’s Badi Lake offers some of the most breathtaking views in Rajasthan. From here, you get amazing vistas of the lake framed by the lush Aravalli Hills. It’s a perfect escape into nature from the busy city streets, and the incredible scenery makes this spot an essential inclusion on any Udaipur itinerary. The walk to the viewpoint doesn’t take long, but there are a few key things to know before you go. Here’s a complete guide to visiting Udaipur’s Bahubali Hills and Badi Lake.
How To Get to Bahubali Hills Udaipur
The Bahubali Hills Viewpoint at Badi Lake is a 20–30 minute drive from Udaipur, and is most easily accessible by auto (tuk-tuk) or taxi. Autos cost around 400–500 rupees for a return trip, and taxis should cost about 700 rupees return.
Most drivers know exactly where Bahubali Hills is and will drop you off at the trailhead and wait in the parking area until you’re ready to head back to the city. There’s no exact marker for the viewpoint on Google Maps, but this temple pin is just a short walk away.
You can also find drivers via Uber or OlaCabs. Prices are often better via these apps, but you can only book a one-way trip, so you’ll need to ask your driver to wait for you and agree on a price for a trip back from Bahubali Hills to Udaipur.
Walking to the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint
Considering the breathtaking views of Badi Lake from the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint, you might expect a long and challenging hike, but thankfully, that’s not the case. It’s just a 10–15 minute walk uphill from the parking area, and the path isn’t particularly steep or strenuous.
You get some great views as you climb, but when you reach the top, you’ll immediately see why it’s the best viewpoint in Udaipur.
From the summit of the Bahubali Hills, you get sweeping views over Badi Lake and the Aravalli Hills. The scenery is stunning, with rolling green hills reflected in the lake’s calm waters.
Despite the amazing views, the viewpoint isn’t typically too crowded. On our visit, there were around 20 locals enjoying this scenic spot, and we were the only foreign tourists.

Best Time To Visit Bahubali Hills and Badi Lake
For the best views, visit the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint and Badi Lake between July and October. Udaipur’s monsoon season (July to September) brings lush greenery to the hills and makes the views even more incredible. We visited in September and it was quite overcast, but it didn’t rain, so don’t be put off by a few clouds.
At other times of the year, Badi Lake’s scenery is drier and more yellow, but the views are still impressive. Visiting outside of the monsoon season means blue skies are more likely, which can make for some nicer photos!
Badi Lake Information and History
Badi Lake, also known locally as Jiyan Sagar, is an artificial freshwater lake built in the 17th century by Maharana Raj Singh I to help combat famine and drought. It’s one of Udaipur’s cleanest lakes, and is much quieter than Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar Lake in the city itself.
The incredible natural scenery at Badi Lake makes it one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. Although you can get lovely vistas all around the lake, the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint offers the best views.
Tips for Visiting
Entry Fee: As of 2025, there’s an entrance fee of 10 rupees to visit the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint at Badi Lake.
Hillusion: If you’re looking to spend longer enjoying Badi Lake’s nature, head to the Hillusion restaurant near Bahubali Hills. You get spectacular views of the surrounding hills, and they cook up some great local and international dishes.
Animal Aid Unlimited: Just a 15-minute drive from the viewpoint is Animal Aid Unlimited. It’s a must-visit for animal lovers to see the wonderful work they do in caring for rescued animals.
