Things to do in Montville
Shop on Montville Main Street
Exploring the quirky and unique shops along the town’s main street is one of the best things to do in Montville. There are a variety of interesting shops to visit including Montville Antiques, the Clock Shop, a chocolate store and more.
Simply walk down the main street of Montville and head into the different shops to see the impressive artisan goods for sale. Even if you’re not planning to buy anything it’s still worth popping in to a few of the shops to take a look!

Montville Art Gallery
Make sure to visit the Montville Art Gallery to see incredible pieces of art by some of the region’s best artists. The gallery is located on the town’s main street, and has a range of impressive artworks on display from over 40 different artists.
Entry to the Montville Art Gallery is free, so it’s worth stopping by even if it’s just for a few minutes. The artwork in the gallery is also for sale, so make sure to bring your credit card in case you find something you want to buy! International shipping is available too, which is convenient if you’re visiting from overseas.

Kondalilla National Park
One of the most popular and best things to do in Montville is to visit the nearby Kondalilla National Park. The park is home to beautiful forest and rainforest, as well as the impressive Kondalilla Falls – which stands at a height of approximately 90 metres.
There are a number of walking trails in the national park, including a section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. We personally recommend doing the Kondalilla Falls Circuit, which encompasses a section of the Great Walk and gives you amazing views of the waterfall.
As well as the amazing views, this walk gives you the chance to go for a swim in the rock pools at the top of the falls. The walk takes around 1½-2 hours depending on your pace, and does involve descending and ascending a number of stairs on the route.
Visiting the beautiful Kondalilla National Park is well worth the effort whilst you’re in Montville. The waterfall is at its best during the summer wet season, so try to visit at this time if possible.
Make sure to read our guide to the Kondalilla Falls Circuit hike for everything you need to know before you visit!

Visit Maleny
If you have a car then one of the best things to do in Montville is take a drive to the nearby town of Maleny. It’s just a 15 minute drive from Montville to Maleny, so it’s easy to combine the two together for a day trip in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
There are several great things to do in Maleny, including visiting the botanic gardens and enjoying the views of the Glass House Mountains at McCarthy’s Lookout. We also recommend visiting the platypus viewing platform at Obi Obi Creek, where we were fortunate enough to see a wild platypus which is one of the best free things to do near Montville. It’s normally hard to see a platypus in the wild, so it’s definitely worth taking the opportunity whilst you’re in the area!
The town of Maleny itself has a number of interesting independent shops to visit, as well as several nice cafes and restaurants. Make sure to read our guide to the best things to do in Maleny before you visit, and if you fancy spending a night then check out our guide to the best accommodation and places to stay in Maleny!

Enjoy views from the Edge Restaurant
One of the best things to do in Montville is to visit the Edge Restaurant to enjoy breathtaking views of the Sunshine Coast. The restaurant’s deck offers panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland all the way to the sea, making it the perfect place for a drink or bite to eat.
Open from 8.30am-4pm every day, the restaurant has a breakfast and lunch menu, as well as serving a variety of drinks and cakes. Even if you just quickly stop for a coffee, it’s well worth it to enjoy the view from one of the best cafes and restaurants in Montville!

Admire the Montville Chapel
Take a moment to stop and admire the Montville Chapel as you walk along the town’s main street. The chapel is beautifully-designed, and is a popular wedding venue in this part of the Sunshine Coast.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to enter the chapel grounds for a close up look, but you can see the chapel from the path as you walk by. If you’re considering having a wedding at the chapel it is possible to arrange a viewing, but if you’re just visiting Montville then the closest you can get is the gate to the chapel grounds.
