There are so many amazing viewpoints you can see in the beautiful Parc Natural dels Ports. This huge area is full of different hikes, bike rides and more you can do. When we were looking up what we could do here we found limited information and discovered these three viewpoints you can reach in Parc Natural dels Ports by car. The park is a must visit for any nature lover and is accessible on day trips from places like Tortosa, L’Ampolla and L’Ametlla De Mar. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to hike inside the park, so this list isn’t a definitive list of the best views in the area – instead focusing on the viewpoints most accessible by car. We think that these 3 amazing viewpoints in Parc Natural dels Ports are a great introduction to this beautiful area!
3 Amazing viewpoints in Parc Natural dels Ports by car
Mirador del Ports
This amazing viewpoint in Parc Natural dels Ports happens to be in the middle of a small town called Alfara de Carles. After a small easy walk up through the quaint town, you will find the unexpected delightful view of the surrounding mountains.
Once you get to the top there is a board highlighting what the different peaks you see in front of you are.
There are several small roads you can easily park your car for free in Alfara de Carles. Other than the viewpoint there isn’t much to see here so you are unlikely to be staying here for too long.
Mirador del Ports is the easiest viewpoint to access on this list both in terms of driving and walking, and so it’s a great introduction to Parc Natural dels Ports.

Mirador del Portell
You will find the amazing viewpoint of Mirador del Portell almostvin the middle of Parc Natural dels Ports. From here you can see other nearby peaks, as well as the Mediterranean sea.
Going up the roads you will be treated to beautiful views as you start ascending in altitude and if you’re like Natalia want to stop constantly to keep taking these sights in!

This isn’t an official viewpoint as such – it’s more of a lay-by – but it’s definitely worth the quick stop to take in this scenery. We simply followed the directions to Mirador Del Portell on Google Maps.
Mirador del Portell is essentially on the way to Mont Caro which is why you gain a fair amount of altitude when getting to this viewpoint.

Mirador del Mont Caro
Our last amazing viewpoint we visited in Parc Natural dels Ports is the highest point in the park – Mirador del Mont Caro. At 1,441 meters high you can see the beautiful Catalonian landscape, and on a clear day places such as the Ebro Delta.
We didn’t get such a clear day so were not able to see it, however the view from the hike at Foradada del Montsia gave breathtaking views of the Ebro Delta – so we recommend doing that hike if you have the time.
The views from Mirador del Mont Caro definitely have to be some of the best you can find in Parc Natural dels Ports. At the top there is a viewing platform which is worth going on to take in this scenery. As you are at the top of the mountain there are views all around so have a good look to soak in all that you can!
To get up here isn’t for the faint hearted as you are literally driving up a mountain. The roads are paved and generally okay to drive until near the top where the roads get a bit thinner. So we stopped near the top of Mount Caro in a laybay where it was free to park.
Mirador del Mont Caro is around a 20-minute drive from Mirador del Portell – so it’s definitely worth doing both if you are nearby. Some of the best views we saw were from driving up the roads in Parc Natural dels Ports.
