With it being so popular, the best hotels and places to stay on the Isle of Skye often book up well in advance – so it’s important to book ahead where possible! There are some great accommodation options around the island, from budget hostels to luxury hotels. We recommend driving on the Isle of Skye, as many of the best hotels and accommodation options are found in Portree, Broadford and Dunvegan. These three spots in particular are home to some of the best-located hotels, within driving distance of the top attractions on the Isle of Skye, such as the Fairy Pools, Neist Point and more! Budget accommodation on the Isle of Skye

Broadford Backpackers Hostel

The Broadford Backpackers Hostel is one of the best cheap accommodation options on the Isle of Skye. It’s a fairly basic option, but it’s a comfortable enough base and is a great place to stay if you’re trying to keep costs down for your trip.

There is both a shared kitchen and a shared lounge for the use of guests, and conveniently there is a well-stocked supermarket around a 10-minute walk away. The shared lounge is a great place to meet and socialise with other guests, and the kitchen is ideal for those looking to avoid paying to dine out – which can be expensive on the island!

Located in the village of Broadford, a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye, the hostel offers free private parking and free Wi-Fi for guests. Staff at the property are helpful and friendly, and will happily provide recommendations for your trip.

Rooms at the property are fairly basic, but as one of the cheapest options on the Isle of Skye it’s an ideal place to stay if you’re on a budget! Prices start from £69 per night for a private room, or from as little as £25 per night for a bed in a dorm room.

Portree Youth Hostel

The Portree Youth Hostel is another great budget accommodation option on the Isle of Skye. Its location in the island’s main town mean it’s close to a number of the main attractions, as well as being nearby to a number of shops, restaurants and pubs. The hostel provides beautiful views over Loch Portree, which make it a scenic place to stay.

Staying here is great if you want the chance to meet like-minded travellers as there is a lovely shared dining area and communal lounge to socialise with other guests. There’s also a well-equipped shared kitchen if you want to cook for yourself, and there are two Co-op supermarkets within walking distance.

Rooms at the hostel are fairly basic as you’d expect, but they’re well-furnished and ensure a comfortable stay. Staff at the hostel are extremely friendly and helpful, so you’re in good hands if you have any questions.

One of the slight downsides is that there is no on-site parking, but thankfully there is a paid car park nearby which you should be able to use. If you’re not planning to drive then the hostel is conveniently located near Portree’s Somerled Square, from which you can catch buses around the Isle of Skye.

Mid-Range accommodation on the Isle of Skye

5 Glenconon Bed and Breakfast

The 5 Glenconon Bed and Breakfast is one of the best places to stay on the Isle of Skye. Located in the small village of Uig, the B&B is within walking distance of the lovely Rha waterfall and is a great base for exploring the north of the island. Its proximity to the Uig Ferry Terminal makes it the best area to stay in the Isle of Skye if you plan to catch a ferry to the Outer Hebrides.

A number of Skye’s main attractions are within a half an hour drive, including Staffin Bay, Portree and Kilt Rock. It’s also a great place to stay if you plan on doing the famous Quiraing walk, as it’s around a 15-minute drive from the car park. The Tide

Situated within walking distance from the village of Dunvegan, The Tide Bed & Breakfast is one of the best value places to stay on the Isle of Skye. The B&B is in a tranquil location, providing beautiful views of MacLeods Tables, Loch Dunvegan and more. Due to the lochside location it’s sometimes even possible to see seals from the property!

One of the best things about the property is the fantastic location, which is a great base from which to drive around Skye. It’s around a 30-minute drive to the famous Neist Point – which is on our list of the best walks on the Isle of Skye! Conveniently it’s also less than an hour’s drive from Portree, the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and plenty of other incredible spots. Free private parking is available at the property too, so you’ll always have somewhere to park after a day of exploring the island.

Rooms at the property are nice and comfortable, and there is even a shared sitting room for the use of guests – which is perfect if you’re travelling in a group and have booked more than one room! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful too, so will happily give advice and recommendations for restaurants and more!

As well as the above, The Tide B&B is less than a 10-minute drive from the famous Three Chimneys restaurant – considered to be one of the best restaurants on the Isle of Skye. Prices at The Tide start from £125 per night, with breakfast included in the price.

Skeabost House Hotel

The 4-star Cuillin Hills Hotel is unquestionably one of the best hotels and places to stay in Skye, situated on the edge of the island’s main town of Portree. The luxurious and well-located House of Juniper Spa Hotel is one of the best places to stay in Skye. Located in Broadford, the second largest village on the Isle of Skye, the hotel is a great base for exploring the island.

Free private parking is available on-site at the property and it’s very close to the A87 – the main road running to the north of the island. That means as well as being one of the best luxury hotels in the Isle of Skye, it’s fairly near to attractions like the Fairy Pools and the Sligachan Old Bridge.
